Betano's password expiration policy is part of our broader security enhancement initiative to ensure that our customer's account remain secure.
Our security team developed a Password expiration policy feature as part of our broader security enhancement initiative. Our primary objective is to enhance customer account security while minimising any user frustration and ensuring a smooth user experience.
In this article, we explain to you the new Password expiration process. The primary goal of this policy is to enhance security by reducing/eradicating the risk associated with compromised passwords.
Here are the key elements included in this process;
1. Password Duration: Your passwords will expire every 12 months. You will get a notification that will prompt you to change your password.
2. Password Complexity: You are required to create passwords that meet specific complexity criteria, such as including a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. This complexity helps thwart attempts to guess or crack passwords.
3. Password History: To prevent recycling through a limited set of passwords, password history requirements prohibit the reuse of previous passwords.
4. Notification and Enforcement: A countdown will display the remaining days for mandatory change, and a reminder will also be shown once a day upon login to change your password. This must be carried out within 7 days from the 1st reminder. Once the 7 days reminder elapse, you will no longer be able to skip the password change, you will be required to change your password before you can continue.
